Austria 17 and 18 July

17 July 2005

Hi everyone,

Did I miss writing for one day? Time's flying and everythings's a blur cause everyone is having so much fun. These couple of days has been particularly busy because we went to Vienna (where I was under stress to buy as many souvenirs in as short a time as possible) and we went wine tasting today. It's CULTURE. But everything here seems to be about WINE. Tmr we are visiting a museum and it's a WINE museum!!

Some of the delegates here are very young (as young as 15) and some of them just don't know their alcohol limits. They drink until they puke all over the place (thank goodness my roommates are not like that. I would hate to have to clean up the bathroom.). BUT Singapore delegates are really good. We have been behaving and we haven't been doing silly things. :P

Tonight is the costume party and the theme is "beyond the sea" so any sea related stuff will do. Mohan is a pirate, Yuling is a water girl and Michelle and I are jelly-fish (although everyone thinks we are trash from the sea. Haha!).

Hope all is well back in Singapore...

Dorl, Dor: Thanks for the updates about first aid duties. Appreciate them. I would be back on Monday! Time flies! About a week more...

Mum, Dad, Ivan, Eugene: I'm fine here.. having lots of fun... you miss my noise?! But I don't make noise!! I make music and entertainment. :) Haha...forward this to Ivan please. Thanx.

Ley Wee: It's really fun here!! I know what you mean now... We all feel like staying here on and on and on...

That's all for now.

Mae

18 July 2005

Dear all,

About 1 week left in camp and nobody is keen to think about leaving. We're just enjoying our time here as much as possible and home seems so far away. It's like we're on another planet.

Something funny's been happening: There is this boy from Austria and he is ALWAYS raising his hands to answer questions, always talking and talking and talking non-stop. He takes it upon himself to be our guide in Austria, to translate everything from German to English etc etc etc. He even says things like: Please throw the trash into the bin or please let the people come out of the train before you go in. Everyone's annoyed with him and when he starts opening his mouth, lots of people just shout: Shut up Niki!!! And when we're crossing the road, he would shout: Attention attention! Car's coming. So now whenever he does that, people shout: Really! No kidding!

Yesterday, we had a soccer match and he took the mike and wanted to be the commentator for the match but the teamers took it away from him because even THEY can't stand him. And last night, during pub time, the teamers dedicated a song to him: "Shut up" by Black Eyed Peas.

We had to organize a pub session during Singapore's national day and we taught them yum-seng which they really love and keep doing everytime we have drinks/pub.

Nothing much else has been happening. Everyone seems to have settled upon a routine and all of us are regularly running to check the laundry because 80 of us have to share 1 washing machine and 1 dryer. The washing machine takes 2 hours to wash one load and takes another 1.5 hours to dry the clothes. Imagine! Us from Singapore have decided to handwash our clothes :)

That's all for today. If the email sounds disorganized and not very coherent, it's because we're prepetually hurrying to do something or go somewhere and i don't really have time to organize my thoughts.

Mae
